A MASTERFUL EDUCATION

The true hallmark of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School is our highly trained and uniquely qualified teaching and support staff. Serving a total enrollment of 260 Pre-K through 8th grade students, a majority of our staff has earned Master's level degrees. And more than half of our teachers are members of the Mercedarian religious order—priests, brothers, and sisters.

Together we are focused on a philosophy of education that extends beyond textbooks, grades, and test scores. We recognize that differences exist in each child. In response, we develop programs, learning theories, and instructional strategies that are effectively used to maximize the learning process.

On both the academic and spiritual levels, we do all that we can to prepare our students for a productive high school and university education...and to lead their lives as disciples of Jesus, our redeemer.

Beyond this core learning experience, we offer a specialized support staff to help students with a wide range of spiritual, personal, physical, and emotional issues. For example, Our Lady of Mount Carmel School’s nursing station is staffed by a registered nurse. In addition, a child psychologist and a speech therapist are available to our children on a scheduled basis.

A PROUD HISTORY OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
A Christian-focused education is essential to the full spiritual, social, and academic development of every child. Likewise, the teaching of Catholic morals and ethical values is paramount in the holistic development of our students.

This is the belief of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and, indeed, our entire parish community.

Guided by the rich tradition of the Roman Catholic Church and the religious principles of the Mercedarian Order, OLMC has consciously emphasized high expectations for superior achievement since our establishment in 1949.

As a vital learning center, we strive to ensure that our mission — to guide children to live their lives according to the examples of Mary our Mother of Mercy and her son Jesus Christ — begins in the classroom and reaches out to the community-at-large through our students.

Ultimately, it is our goal to develop leaders who will freely and eagerly contribute their talents to the Church, the community, the country, and the family of nations.

"The introduction of youth to Christian customs and virtues is very closely related to the ministry of seeking the eternal salvation of others. . .it is a mission we take to heart.”
Fr. Richard Rasch, O. de M., Pastor

THE PARENT-TEACHER-STUDENT TRIANGLE

We heartily encourage the exchange of ideas and information between parents/guardians, students, and teachers on all matters. In fact, the involvement of parents in the student-teacher relationship is vital to the success of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. Many of our families have enjoyed these ties for three generations.

Quarterly home and school meetings, twice annual parent-teacher conferences, and the parent- teacher advisory board are just a few of the formal ways in which teachers and parents/guardians interact on an ongoing basis. In addition, the majority of our students’ families are parishioners of OLMC and routinely participate in school and church activities that strengthen the parent-teacher-student bond.

OLMC offers:
- Extended Day: a before and after school learning and care program
- Developmentally Appropriate Full-Day Pre-School for 3 and 4 year olds.
- Full-Day Kindergarten
- Peer Tutoring and Mentoring programs
